● What are the three domains of life?: Eukarya, Bacteria and Archaea
● What's the difference between Prokaryota and Eukaryota?: the differnce in DNA storage system. The DNA in Prokaryota is located everywhere in the cell, and Eukaryota has a special organella - nucleus. There are also some differences in processing of DNA. Prokaryota gene encodes some RNA or protein, and Eukaryota gene work is a little bit complicated, such a RNA splicing.
● What is a meta-genome?: Meta Genome is the mix DNA sequences of all organisms in some sample - in water, in soil, in human gut etc.
● What's a chromosome?: A chromosome is a long DNA molecule with part or all of the genetic material of an organism. Eukariots have many chromosomes, Procariots have only one chromosome. All chromosomes, put together building the genome.
● What's a taxonomy?: is the grouping of bilogical organisms into groups with similar characteristics, witchout taking the genetic information into account.
● What's a phylogeny?: is the grouping of bilogical organisms into groups based on the genetical data. Subtrees of phylogenetic threes are called lineage. Leafs are the currently known organisms. Inner nodes represent the hypothetical common ancestor.
● What is an outgroup?: more distantly related organisms, that are added to phylogenetic tree to put the virtual root.
